But could I tell you how much I believe that’s HEALTHY for the game? NBN has been sitting on top of this cycle since NEH came out, and other factions have not received healthy enough play. We NEED other factions to be played at the competitive level, and we’re failing ourselves if we stand to believe that holding onto a archetype is what is going to drive innovation. Let Weyland and HB rise up and be recognized, and NBN await in the shadows until we see a agenda spread besides Astro.
You are kidding right ?
The only time NBN flooded the metagame was at worlds and mostly because nobody know what to do with Blue Sun (also because both Leela and Lady wasn’t released at time, granted). Since then, we got a really healthy metagame with a lot of variety and on both side.
The existence of NEH hasn’t stopped people from playing Blue Sun and RP. In 2 out of 3 of my previous store champions those decks predominated both in the overall makeup and the top 8. NEH hasn’t been dominant since people figured out how to tech against it though it can still demolish certain runners that it has a favorable matchup against.
I think the game has felt best at the end of each cycle, probably after each big box. FFG should try to schedule releases so that the big box comes out in early October, Worlds happens in November preferably with the first datapack of the next cycle. I trust FFG to release new answers to clot over the course of SanSan and in the NBN box. If NBN disappears from competitive play for a while, either while we wait for new yellow toys or until someone figures out how to play yellow with the current cardpool despite clot, that’s ok too.
If it’s between diversity in corp factions and diversity in corp deck archetypes, I’d take the latter. Flatline is already dying. FA will die. Every deck will be playing ash or caprice. I don’t call that healthy.
NBN placed well at Worlds 2013 (mainly 'cause all the BalWash crue were running it, and they’re some good), and only picked up from there. They gained nice tools all the way through Regionals 2014, from Sweeps Week to NEH.
So, it wasn’t just one tourney that they flooded won. Check how many SCs they won.
Sure, NBN won a lot, but they didn’t flood other tournaments in the same way as worlds 2014 was flooded.
NEH is still the best deck. I’d attribute a lot of NEH not having more than its fair share of wins in the SC season to the fact that people play their pet/favourite decks when a regional or more is not on the line. In regionals this year I’d have expected 40%-50% NEH if not for clot.
Something did need to happen. But they couldn’t swallow their pride and admit that banning/restricting makes better metagames than silver bullets.
I’d like to avoid a heated debate of opinions, so I’ll agree to disagree. But I’ll say this much; when a phrase can be coined that “he’s playing NEH because he wants to win” then there’s something amidst.
My hope is in this cycle upcoming there are new tools for remotes. We’ve seen some janky ones, I’m all for discovering new cards to shift remote mentality.
I’ve won or placed well in a good amount tournament during last season by playing NBN but it wasn’t nearly as dominant as it was during worlds 2014. During the Spin cycle, both Weyland and HB were more popular than NBN and it’s only after NEH + architect that NBN become the powerhouse that it is today.
Also, even if Ash/Caduceus Making News or TWIY* fastrobiotic were good, it wasn’t nearly as stable than H&P RP, HBFA or HB Glacier back then.
Look guys I fixed everything

DEAR GOD HOW COULD I FORGET
PostSupermoderism. Can’t wait for the Post-PostSupermodernism build, coming 2016.
Far earth hub is going to have 23 influence so I can fit Archers
Sounds like you’ll be able to draw 3 and put 2 at the bottom judging from the trend
It’ll be NEH, but 23 INF, and the added text ‘The first time you draw a card each turn, gain 1 cred, install 1 piece of ICE, and score 1 agenda from HQ.’
Nice, gets around clot since you don’t actually install the agenda. I’m in.
