Stimhack Regionals Invitational Feeler

Yeah I’m in. any time any place.

Would you feel the same if they tourney ran from, say, 3 a.m. to 6 p.m. for you? Or maybe start during your afternoon family time and end late enough that you end up missing your first morning meeting on the next day? It’s really easy to champion the one-day solution when you’re perfectly positioned in relation to the organizer, time-wise, I think.

Also, love @Nobo715’s suggestion, would love to see those kinds of stats crystallize.

I had to cancel the SSCI, since I imagined it would take far too long. In the end I was right, I got to watch the finals life during breakfast.

I’m going to do whatever I can to make it take a lot less time than the SSCI. Having probably about 1/3 as many players will make a big difference, and I’ll shave a round if need be as well.

I know it’s a pain, especially if you’re in a shit time zone, but the fact of the matter is that blocking out an additional day is a whole lot more restrictive in terms of who can play than fucking with certain people’s sleep schedules.

That’s fine, although with that approach it would be swell if multiple events didn’t choose the same set of people to fuck over in that regard.

I know it’s a pain to organise something that’s out of your own comfort zone time-wise, but that’s what volunteer helpers and assistants are for (yes, I’m volunteering if you’re interested).

Edit: btw, if you split the event into swiss day and double-elim day, you don’t actually have to set the date for the double-elim part until it’s clear who’s participating. It takes a bit longer to wrap up the event that way, but it’s less restrictive and 16 people can find consensus reasonably fast.

On my list of ANRPC goals next year are some sort of ranking system, and an invititational, online or otherwise.

That would be pretty boss. I wonder what it would take to set up some sort of registration system like DCI and track player stats? Maybe track card frequency, winning lists for each tournament, player profiles… No promises or guarantees right now, but I could look into mocking up some sort of web portal, if you’re interested.

Been waiting 11 days to be able to say I’m in for this.

Subject to time and date, count me in!

If you end up counting ANRPC winners, I’m in. Otherwise, I haven’t qualified.

Side note - if there’s a nats winner who didn’t win a regionals, would they qualify?

If we include ANRPC winners, I assume they will be circuit winners, not individual qualifiers.

Yeah, I am considering inviting Nationals winners and ANRPC finals winners as well and calling it something other than the SRCI. Any ideas for catchy names?

Come one, come all to @mediohxcore’s First Annual SHIT - The Stimhack Invitational Tournament!

His first-ever SHIT has never occurred before! Witness it yourself, live!

Honestly, a cool, fancy, name is nice, but simple is fine, too. If you leave out the H, the SIT @tomdidiot suggested is fine. But you have to know now that no-one would actually call it that.

(thinks)

What about the “Champions Invitational?” CI by itself is an ANR reference, and SHCI isn’t that far away from the SCI that you used previously.

EDIT: Or you could confuse everyone by calling this one the SCI as well (Stimhack Champions Invitational), and making the rest of us always have to include which one we’re talking about.
